We are looking for dynamic and dedicated volunteers for Rock Camp
APPLY NOW TO VOLUNTEER AT THE SUMMER 2013 CAMP
There are about 10 different types of volunteer positions available and we will need more than one person for each, so feel free to apply to more than one position! Volunteer positions are described in detail in the application form.
Rock Camp for Girls Montreal welcomes individuals who identify as female, trans and gender non-conforming to apply for leadership positions at the camp. We welcome the support of male-identified allies, and expect male-identified allies who would like to volunteer to respect the importance of leadership by women. Non-leadership roles are open to any individuals regardless of gender identity, and we are committed to maintaining an atmosphere of diversity, inclusion, and respect for all individuals throughout the camp. For more information, please see the section on volunteer positions.
We acknowledge that gender is an ongoing and important issue. Rock Camp for Girls Montreal is always open to further discussion surrounding this topic. Feel free to contact us with your pro-active input.
We have set aside a modest amount of money to be given out to volunteers who may need financial support in order to participate in Rock Camp. We would like all folks interested in contributing to Rock Camp to have access to this opportunity, and to this end we offer sliding scale stipends that are offered upon financial need in order to defray some expenses and encourage participation.
If you would like to apply for a stipend, fill out the Stipend Request Form and email it with your Volunteer Application Form by May 13 at midnight.
Join one of our committees
Rock Camp for Girls Montreal has been made possible by the hard work of many dedicated volunteers since its very beginning. These dedicated individuals work year-round to make camp a fun and engaging experience. If you have the energy, drive, and enthusiasm to devote to RCGM, please consider getting involved with one of our exciting committees. We need people with a wide range of skills for a variety of different tasks; we’re sure you’ll find something that suits your interests and abilities. While experience isn’t a requirement, previous knowledge is definitely an asset. We’re looking for individuals who are strongly self-motivated and task-oriented who can make a commitment to setting goals and seeing them through.
Each year, RCGM puts on several exciting fundraising events such as a super fun dance party and our always popular Riot Girl Cover Band show. The event planning committee is responsible for coordinating and promoting these events to make sure they are well organized and well attended. If you like to have a good time raising funds for a good cause, then this is the committee for you!
We have lots of cool Rock Camp swag like t-shirts, tote bags, and posters and we need to get them into the hands of our potential customers! This committee is working to expand our methods of promoting and selling our merch by exploring various retail and online sales strategies.
Building and fostering donor relations is an important aspect of our fundraising strategy. This committee is focused on locating any potential avenues for private/individual gifts to the organization. Responsibilities of this committee include seeking out private donations, coordinating a donor drive, and overseeing externally organized fundraising events.
RCGM is on the lookout for a long-term space to hold camp. Join the search for a venue for camp that can provide space for campers to learn, practice, perform, and have fun. This committee will research potential spaces and consider them in regards to Rock Camp’s logistical needs.
Camp is about more than playing music! Throughout the week small activities are planned between workshops and band practices. These include quick activities to help campers get to know each other (icebreakers), build trust, support and self-esteem among campers, as well as evaluation and reflection type activities. The programming committee is tasked with designing and facilitating these activities as well as help open and close each day; time keep; and create a fun and empowering week at camp for Campers!
Being part of a larger community is important to Rock Camp. We will soon be setting up a committee that will be responsible for creating and fostering dynamic relationships with different facets of our community.
If writing and researching is your kind of thing, then the Grant Writing Committee wants you. We need people to investigate various avenues of funding for which Rock Camp is eligible, and to write and submit applications. This committee requires strong written language skills (written French/ translation skills an asset, but not a requirement.)
Do you have html coding skills? Can you edit texts and embed forms? Do you have an hour or two a month to spend doing general upkeep of Rock Camp’s website? Then you should become our new Web Programmer! We’re on the hunt for someone to be responsible for the maintenance and updating of our wordpress site, as well as designing a webform system for us. If you have the know-how and the dedication to take care of our web needs, we invite you to become a vital component of our online presence by insuring that our website is up-to-date and accessible.
